This slime-mold (Physarum) simulation runs thousands of tiny agents that each deposit a chemical trail and steer toward stronger trails they sense just ahead. The trail map diffuses and evaporates every frame, so the swarm spontaneously organizes into the branching, vein-like transport networks that real slime molds use to solve mazes. Adjust the sensor angle and distance, turn rate, evaporation and agent count, drop 'food' with your cursor to pull the network around, and export a high-resolution PNG.
How to use Slime Mold
- Press Play. Start Slime Mold and watch the animation evolve in real time. Use Pause and Step to inspect it frame by frame.
- Adjust the rules. Use the side panel to change the parameters — the simulation responds live, so you can steer the emerging pattern.
